Folded note found taped to an upper post in the gazebo of Raymond Park
Dear Gwen,
I knew you’d come. Remember this place? I can never forget the days we spent here, although I wish I could.
It’s stupid, I know. We were kids then, twelve years ago this summer. But I loved you then, and I’ll never love anyone else, no matter how old we get, no matter how married you are to someone else.
Anyway, to the point: taped to the bottom of this note is a key to safe-deposit Box 3117 at Mariner Bank. Among the papers is a green velvet box. The contents are yours. Do what you like with it.
Love you forever, Gupster. But you knew that.
